2024-25 Winter Ski Area Roundup!
We're not kidding when we boast that YC ski areas are "The 3 to Ski." Each is remarkably different, yet all three have an excellent variety of beginner, intermediate and expert runs, short lift lines and a welcoming atmosphere. You don't have to look far to find residents who moved here just for skiing and riding!
Big Sky Resort
Opening Day: Nov. 27, 2024 (The day BEFORE Thanksgiving.)
Last year, Big Sky opened its state-of-the-art tram and created a separate line for scenic riders. This year, the price of the tram is included in lift tickets. (Ikon, Mountain Collective, and select season passes will continue to use Autocharge.) Crews are hard at work installing the new Madison 8, the world's longest 8-seat chairlift, which replaces the Six Shooter lift. The new lift will nearly double uphill capacity and reduce ride time by 30%.
Red Lodge Mountain
Opening Day: Nov. 29, 2024 (The day AFTER Thanksgiving.)
Red Lodge Mountain has the second largest capacity snowmaking system in Montana, which allows it to consistently open in November and maintain strong on-piste snowpack throughout the season. Last year, the Miami Beach chairlift was replaced with a new high-speed triple chair, the Stache Express.
Bridger Bowl
Opening Day: Projected, Dec. 13, 2024
Bridger Bowl is a well-loved community ski area. As such, it has decided to remain independent and not join any of the group passes in order to prioritize pass holders and the community. If you're here for the holidays, check out its Torchlight Parade, fireworks, and other festivities on Dec. 30 (the day before New Year's Eve!).
