Department of Commerce Grant Opportunities
Seven communities have been awarded the Department of Commerce's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), including two in Montana's Yellowstone Country. Clyde Park received $15,000 to complete a preliminary engineering report on the water system. Red Lodge received $17,880 and is conditionally selected to receive an additional $32,120 to complete a housing study and land assessment. In 2021, Red Lodge received $30,000 of CDBG funds to complete a housing study focused on increasing the amount of workforce housing and provide information for an affordable housing project. Their current award will allow the city to further this initiative.
The second round of funding for the Pilot Community Tourism Grant Program was released on Nov. 1. This grant will help eligible communities increase their appeal and resilience as tourism destinations and enhance their tourism assets and infrastructure. The town of Big Timber was awarded funding in the first round and already has efforts underway to improve its tourism offerings.
