Montana Freshwater Partners River Ambassador Program

This summer, Yellowstone Country partnered with Montana Freshwater Partners to support their pilot River Ambassador Program. During July and August, river ambassadors will engage with the community at busy river access sites, events and conservation projects along the Upper Yellowstone River. The goal is to educate the public about responsible stewardship of the river, in hopes of preserving the health and vitality for future generations. Tools include hands-on educational opportunities, physical handouts and useful items such as reusable cleanup bags. YC provided financial support for printed materials, including river maps and ambassador notebooks.

In addition to education and outreach, the ambassadors will provide electronic pumps to expedite the inflation of floaters’ rafts and tubes and collect critical data to understand trends in river recreation. Feedback has been fantastic, with both residents and visitors expressing their appreciation for the efforts. You can learn more about the program here.
