Montana State Parks See Increased Visitation
Montana State Parks welcomed 3.2 million visitors last year, a 3.8% increase over 2023, and a 45% increase over the past ten years. Montana’s Yellowstone Country is home to four state parks:
- Cooney Reservoir (186,672 visitors) Known for trout and walleye fishing, camping, birding and water sports.
- Missouri Headwaters (67,698 visitors) Great trail system with interpretive signs, fishing, picnics and camping. Explore Lewis and Clark’s campsite.
- Madison Buffalo Jump (38,115 visitors) A great fall hiking spot, with views over the jump that stretch across to the Madison Range.
- Greycliff Prairie Dog Town (20,712 visitors) A fun place to take the kids where they can run around and watch the prairie dogs in their natural setting.
