Red Lodge Awarded $1.25 million Pilot Community Tourism Grant!
Congratulations to the Red Lodge Community Foundation on their diligent work to receive this grant from the Montana Department of Commerce. The grant application and plan were developed by a Steering Committee of 12 members that represent tourism assets in the area - Red Lodge Chamber of Commerce, Red Lodge Hospitality, Red Lodge Mountain, Red Lodge Area Community Foundation, City of Red Lodge, Beartooth Trails, Red Lodge Ice, Montana Tour, Yodeler Motel, TBID, and Red Lodge Business Alliance.
This multi-year grant will accomplish a Tourism Asset Inventory and Assessment and the creation of a Tourism Development Plan that will identify immediate asset development needs and outline 5-—and 10-year goals/projects.
The Steering Committee identified several potential community benefit projects that can be accomplished with the funding, such as public restrooms at both the Chamber and Roosevelt, a central trailhead and trail grooming machine, completion of the Wayfinding Project, a catering kitchen at the Roosevelt Center, and cooling coils for the ice rink.
Community-wide engagement will occur during the first year to complete the asset inventory and provide input for the Red Lodge Tourism Development Plan.
